Saludos, Alianza members and Northwestern University community!

By northwesternalianza

Hello everyone,

For those who have not met me, my name is Aldo Gallardo and I’m the president of Alianza — The Hispanic/Latino Student Alliance.  I’m excited to present to you our weblog, an effort to keep you the most up-to-date with happenings regarding our organization and the Latina/o community at Northwestern University.

The Executive Board and I are working diligently to make this fall quarter 2008 exciting and fun.  We all look forward to meeting the new incoming class (Congratulations, Class of 2012!) and seeing our members once again.

As many of you all know, October and early November is when Northwestern celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month (HHM).  Alianza has in store for you many activities and programming that will showcase what our community has to offer.

What can you look forward to, you ask?  Festival LatiNU and the after-party, “¡Dale, sin miedo, hasta que se rompa el suelo!”; Fuego: The First Annual Latina/o Bonfire (co-sponsored by all of the undergraduate Latina/o student groups); The First Annual Latina/o Tailgate, Dia de los Muertos (co-sponsored by Alianza, LaFe, Sheil, and H/LSA), the Latina/o Studies Program Panel, Mezcla’s Open Mic Night, and other events.

I hope you have had a fun, refreshing and productive summer.  See you down Sheridan Road.

In solidarity,
Aldo
